New Year"s Eve

Do you have a New Year"s Eve tradition that you do every year? I mean something more than setting resolutions that we know we won"t keep (or well I know I won"t keep them anyways).

New Year

I know that I do like most and start the new year off with the best of intentions. After a few weeks though, routine sets in again and I mean last year"s routine, not the one I have worked so hard on for the last two weeks.  So this year, I am not setting any resolutions. I will be plotting out my goals for the year ahead instead. I tend to actually achieve those. The resolutions not so much.

As for my goals for next year, tonightI will be working on putting them down on paper. I know a few things that I will continue to work on from this year such as:

  • Anxiety

  • Followers

  • Weight loss

  • Slowing down

Other than that, at the moment, I"m sure what other goals I will need yet. I will be working on this tonight though.

New Year

I am looking forward to the start of the new year. Are you?  I hope so. This year has got to be better than last year was. We dealt with so many things it was ridiculous.
  1. My Dad in the hospital started the year out.  a

  2. Aarron"s broken leg

  3. Kira"s moving out.

  4. Kira"s moving back in.

  5. Kira"s pregnancy.

Should I keep going? Yes, it"s been a rough year and I"m glad to see it go. All negativity aside though, a lot of good things happened too. Aarron"s projects are moving along nicely (finally). Hopefully we can get a few of them done this year. My garden is still growing well in the greenhouse Aarron got me this year. I am hoping to have some pumpkins soon.

Sorry, a little jumbled today. lol. I wanted to talk about traditions for New Year"s Eve. Do you have any traditions that you do every year at this time. We usually have black eyed peas and ham with cornbread for dinner.  This is supposed to bring you luck in the new year. Here"s to hoping it works.

What are your traditions?

Have a great day!

Vitamin C Serum

This Vitamin C Serum is another product from InstaNatural. Again I have only been using this for a little over a week in the evening with the Retinol Moisturizer.

Vitamin C Serum http://amzn.to/2i9KjXO

I wish I could tell you this was a miracle serum, but alas, I cannot...yet. However, in combination with the retinol moisturizer, my face is really soft after using this. I also know that Vitamin C is good for skin so I am still hopeful but will continue to use this and see if I see the results I would like to see.

Vitamin C Serum http://amzn.to/2i9KjXO

I will update this post later, in say a month or so, to let you know if I see an improvement. For now though, I have to say that I do like how it smells and how and how my face feels so that"s a start. I"ll let ya know how it goes.

The moon changes each night but she does so in an understandable rhythm. And just as the tides ebb and flow and the moon waxes and wanes, our bodies hormones ebb and flow and our energies wax and wane. Our bodies are more like the rivers than like the rocks, more like the oceans than like machines. The more we can respect the cycles and changes and needs of our bodies, the more we can move with the glow of our lives. In other words, swear by the moon. Or trust your body.  - Golda Poretsky

Retinol Moisturizer

After using this retinol moisturizer every evening for a little over a week, I really can"t give an accurate review. It"s just not enough time. I can, however, give you my first impressions of this moisturizer.

Instanatural Retinol Moisturizer http://amzn.to/2iG0f18

So far, I really like this moisturizer. I have been using this one at night after washing my face and using the Vitamin C serum. After using this and the serum, my face is very soft. The ingredients are natural, which I love about this product. I am still looking for that miracle cream that will remove fine lines and wrinkles. So far, this is not it, but I am hopeful because of the retinol. This is supposed to do great things for your skin.

Instanatural Retinol Moisturizer http://amzn.to/2iG0f18

So, while at the moment, I can"t say that this moisturizer works wonders and removes lines. I can say that I like the way my face feels after using it. It has what seems to me as a floral type smell, but it"s pleasant and not very strong. Overall, I like this product and will have to update this post later if I see any improvement in the fine lines.

Lunch Bag

This lunch bag is huge! My husband is loving it though because it holds everything he needs for the day as well as his lunch.

Lunch Bag http://amzn.to/2iGgYW1

So far my husband has been using this bag for about 2 weeks and he is loving it. I have to tell you though, this thing is huge! I would have to say that it about the size one could use to take for a picnic. He carries not only his lunch in the bag, but everything else that he needs for the day.

Bedtime for Buzzy by T.J. Hackworth

This book, Bedtime for Buzzy, is so cute. I can tell this will be a book that my daughter will read to her daughter probably most nights for a while.

Bedtime for Buzzy http://fave.co/2hxoGlj

This book is adorable! We all know it can be difficult to get a little to sleep. Well, in this book, the toys help the little go to sleep by doing the same thing. They each tell Buzzy they need rest to continue the adventure the next day. What an awesome way to get your little to sleep! This book will be out in February for purchase on Amazon. This would make a perfect birthday present for any child. The drawings are great and the book is perfect. I know that my grand daughter will enjoy this book for a long time.

Bedtime for Buzzy http://fave.co/2hxoGlj

All in all, I would have to give this book a 5 star review. The story is good for a child of most any age with the added benefit of his toys telling him they need rest as well. What could be better than that to get your little one to sleep.

You can get this item here on Amazon (but not until Feb. 8th at the earliest).

Wood and Laminate Cleaner

This wood and laminate cleaner works really well. It says it should leave a shine, but I didn"t notice one however, the floor looks great. The pictures below are before and after.

Wood and Laminate Cleaner http://fave.co/2ihAxR0

This cleaner picked up all the dirt on the floor and all the stains that were on the floor as well. I don"t usually use anything to clean my house except natural cleaners, so to me, this has a bit of a chemical smell to it, but it"s nothing too powerful and went away shortly after the floor dried. All in all I would have to say that this cleaner works well and does exactly what it says it should. It cleans well and didn"t leave a film or residue on the floor at all either.

I did notice that the bottle leaks a bit around the sprayer if you tip it too far when spraying the floor. However, the spray is a very fine mist so this wasn"t too much of an issue at all. It just got all over my hands but other than that it seems to work great.

Backup Camera

I was hoping to have this backup camera installed before the review was due, but sadly that didn"t happen. You need to order a monitor as well. Because I didn"t know this a head of time, the monitor won"t get here until after the review is due so I will update this after we get it installed.

Backup Camera http://fave.co/2hpp45j

My husband says it will be easy to install once we get the monitor. He was thrilled when I got this for a review because he knows that my backup skills leave a bit to be desired...lol. I"m not very good at it so I don"t do it often. He has driven a car with a backup camera before and he"s pretty sure this will help me tremendously with my back up skills.

I can"t wait to get this in the Kia. I"ve heard good things about this brand so I have high expectations for this item. We have the backup sensors installed already and these have helped me a bit, but I look forward to having the camera.

Backup Camera http://fave.co/2hpp45j

Once again, I will update this post when we get the camera installed after the monitor gets here and just remember that if you are going to order one, you need to order a monitor as well.

Carpet and Upholstery Cleaner

I know you really don"t see much difference between the pictures, but this carpet and upholstery cleaner really does work. You can see this by how dirty the washcloth is after using it.

Carpet and Upholstery Cleaner http://fave.co/2ihv6S3

The stains on the backseat of my Jeep are roughly from over the last 10 years. I really didn"t expect it come out completely. However, I only worked on one section, and only for about 5 minutes. I know that if I had continued to work on the stains it would have been a much better difference. I would have to say that this stuff really does work.

Christmas Day

Have you ever wondered where Christmas Day came from? Would you believe that it really isn"t the day that Jesus was born?

Where did our Christmas day traditions come from? Well, the holiday started as a Pagan holiday. The winter solstice was a time to celebrate the rebirth of the sun. As the days begin to get longer and the land reawakens in spring.  Of course, no one really knows when Jesus was born. However, some clues given in the Bible seem to suggest summer or fall as travel during winter in that time was very difficult.

So, how did Christmas come to be? Well, the Romans celebrated Saturnalia around this time of year. Would you believe this is where the Christmas tree came from?  It was customary for Saturnalia, to bring a tree inside and adorn it with stars and and suns. One would also hand greenery around windows and doors. Again this was a celebration of to honor the God of Sowing, Saturn.

Krampus http://homeandlovingit.com

The Germans celebrate Krampusnacht. A horned devil, Krampus, punishes the children who have been naughty with a switch.  It is thought that this was a celebration of a horned god of the Pagans. Some stories say that Santa Claus gave gifts to the good children and Krampus punished the naughty children.  I don"t know about you, but I think with the image above, I would have been a good child growing up.

Santa Claus http://homeandlovingit.com

Yule, is celebrated by the Vikings. The yule celebration was to celebrate Odin. Odin would ride around the world on an 8-legged horse to deliver presents. This is where Santa"s 8 reindeer came from. The Christmas ham represents the boar that Freya rides.

[caption id="attachment_4597" align="aligncenter" width="185"] Odin, do you see the resemblance to Santa Claus?[/caption]

St. Nicholas was a bishop in Turkey who would give presents of gold to the poor. One story states that he dropped the gold down the chimney and it landed in a stocking that had been hung to dry (this is why we hang stockings at Christmas). This story, over the years morphed into "Sinterklaas" which later became Santa Claus.

When Christianity began to take hold, Christmas was actually banned because it was a Pagan holiday. However, the priest"s found that if the holidays overlapped, people would be more likely to convert to Christianity. So, Christmas is actually a Pagan holiday and not the day that Jesus was born. Who would"ve thought?

So anyways, I hope everyone has a wonderful holiday, no matter what you celebrate!

Happy Yule

Renee

Christmas Eve

What are your Christmas Eve traditions? I would love to hear them. We usually all get together for dinner and do a present exchange with just my immediate family. I would love to say this is a small intimate gathering, but I have too many brothers and sisters for that...lol.

This has always been my favorite time of year. The Christmas spirit is strong within me. I love the music, I love getting together with my family (no matter how crazy we are), and I just love the general feeling of the time of year. I am all for giving this time of year. I have tried to instill in my children that this time should be about what you can do for others rather than what you get.

I know with the way of the world now, this is not an easy task to complete and I have had many challenges over the years in trying to instill this in my kids. Of course, like every other child here, my kids always wanted the biggest and best, newest things on the market. I think that now that my kids are older, they really understand the meaning behind Christmas.

As for the meaning, I am not talking about the birth of Jesus here. I am talking about the good will toward men. I only wish this could be something we see all year round now. Any how, I hope that everyone has a wonderful holiday!

Again, what are your traditions for this Christmas season? I"d love to hear them.

Have a great day!

Renee

Sole Patches

These Sole Patches are great! At the end of the day my feet used to hurt so much on both the heel and the ball of my feet. I"ve been using these in my boots for about a week now and so far my feel feel better at the end of the day then they did before.
Sole Patches http://solepatches.com

It appears that the main purpose of these would be to wear them on your feet, but the box also says that you can fix them permanently in your shoe. This is the option I choose as I usually only wear the one pair of shoes.  However, if you wear different shoes throughout the day, you can put them on your foot instead and have them no matter what shoes you wear.

Sole Patches http://solepatches.com

The Sole Patches  feel a little awkward at first, but I got used to them by the end of the day. Now, I hardly notice them at all when I wear my boots. I love that they don"t hurt my feet any longer though. I can wear them all day if I have to, which I wasn"t able to do before because they would hurt my feet too much.

Great Weekend

Oh my gosh! I got to see my son this last weekend. Now mind you I haven"t seen this kid since he was about 9 yrs. old. He"s the one on the bottom. This picture was taken one of the last times I got to see him. This was a great weekend.

We had such a great time this weekend with him. My husband pulled out the quad for the kids to ride and they had a blast with it.

T.J. is 15 now. He has grown into a handsome young man.

After riding the quad all day, the kids came inside to build the gingerbread house we got. This is something we used to do this every Yule because the kids loved it so much.

T.j. wouldn"t let me get a decent picture without his tongue hanging out..lol.

This was the finished project. They did a great job on it. Much better than when they were younger. Here"s a video I got of them working on the Gingerbread House.

[embed]https://vimeo.com/195817155[/embed]

Later, we went looking at the houses that were decorated for Christmas. Mind you I live in a very small town. However, we did find this one that I thought was absolutely adorable.

Kira picked up one of our hens, Red, and we found that she likes to have the side of her face and under her neck rubbed just like a dog. I got a video of this too. It was amazing!

[embed]https://vimeo.com/195816414[/embed]

How was your weekend? Do you have plans for next weekend? I"d love to hear what you"re up to.

Have a great day!

Renee
